How To Use

Spread an even layer of the substrate across the entire floor of your clean enclosure. Aim for a depth of at least five centimeters for juvenile tortoises, and increase the thickness significantly for larger adults to facilitate proper digging. Horsfields tortoises in particular will require a much deeper layer due to their highly active burrowing habits. Spot clean the terrain daily to clear away any local waste or spills. Perform a complete substrate replacement every two to three weeks to keep the environment thoroughly clean and pristine. If you utilize heat mats within the enclosure, remember to mount them on the side walls rather than underneath the floor panel, as tortoises naturally burrow downward to escape heat and cool down.
