Product Description

The Dogs Butcher Raw Recreational Veal Bones 1kg is a premium quality, highly specialised recreational raw chew and meal component engineered to deliver deep psychological enrichment and superb structural nutrition for working dogs and active companions. Prepared by the DEFRA approved Devon manufacturer using ethically and locally sourced UK livestock, this 1kg selection consists of a mixed bag of whole, raw veal bones. Left in their completely natural, unadulterated state with zero heat processing or artificial enhancements, these bones provide an authentic, long lasting chew that challenges your pet physically while satisfying an evolutionary drive to process whole anatomical components.

When utilised as a recreational chew, these local veal bones introduce an invaluable mechanical asset to your dog's oral hygiene routine. Sourced from young British calves, veal bones are naturally softer, more pliable, and less dense than mature beef marrow bones, making them significantly safer and gentler on teeth while still providing a robust chewing experience. The physical action of gnawing and scraping against the raw bone surface behaves as a completely natural toothbrush, systematically lifting away soft plaque, reducing hardened tartar buildup, and providing a healthy stimulating massage to the gums. Engaging with a whole raw chew also stimulates the instinctual release of maternal endorphins in the canine brain, effectively burning excess mental energy, alleviating latent environmental stress, and preventing destructive boredom behaviors in active breeds.

As a completely raw recreational and structural bone product, this selection is classified as a complementary raw food item. The marrow and remaining meat trim surrounding these bones are exceptionally rich in high quality protein, bioavailable iron, zinc, and essential fatty acids. Additionally, these bones function as a fantastic raw material for crafting homemade bone broth, as slow simmering draws out an abundance of locked away collagen, glucosamine, and chondroitin to support joint cartilage elasticity and soothe the intestinal lining. This makes the product an exceptional, allergen free asset for owners wishing to nurture recovering, senior, or highly active working dogs.

Suitable For

Animal Type: Domestic dogs and working dogs. Strictly not for human consumption.

Breed Size: Best suited for medium, large, and giant breed dogs who possess the capacity to manage whole recreational bones safely. Smaller breeds can also benefit when utilized strictly for simmering into a liquid broth.

Life Stage: Formulated for adult dogs and mature puppies from 24 weeks onwards who possess fully developed adult teeth. Especially ideal for dogs requiring a chicken free and mature beef free single protein red meat alternative, senior pets requiring targeted mobility support, and active working breeds.

Feeding Guide and How To Use

Recreational Serving Strategy: Serve straight from frozen or thawed as an occasional occupational chew. Hand the bone directly to your dog on an easily cleanable surface, such as outdoors on the grass or on a large washable floor towel, to keep household spaces hygienic.

Crucial Safety Supervision: Always supervise your dog closely during recreational bone feeding sessions. Observe your dog's chewing mechanics directly; do not allow aggressive chewers, powerful crunchers, or dogs unfamiliar with whole skeletal structures to attempt to shatter or swallow large pieces whole. Although veal bones are more forgiving than mature beef bones, remove the chew immediately if it begins to splinter or if your dog attempts to gulp it.

Bone Broth Preparation Alternative: Place the 1kg allocation of veal bones into a large stockpot or slow cooker, submerge completely with fresh water, and add one to two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to facilitate optimal mineral extraction. Simmer on a very low heat for 24 to 48 hours, strain out and safely discard all cooked bones, and allow the liquid to cool in the refrigerator until it forms a firm jelly to use as a highly palatable meal topper.

Crucial Cooked Bone Warning: Discard all bones after any broth simmering process is complete. Never, under any circumstances, feed these cooked veal bones to your dog. Cooking permanently alters the cellular matrix of skeletal tissue, making the bones dry, brittle, and highly prone to dangerous splintering which poses a severe risk of gastrointestinal perforation.

Handling and Storage: Store at 18 degrees Celsius and keep frozen until ready for use. If using for recreational chewing, defrost the package inside a sealed container in the refrigerator overnight before serving. Once thawed, utilize within 48 hours and do not refreeze.

Safe Handling: This is a raw livestock product and should be handled with standard hygiene rules. Wash hands, feeding areas, utensils, and all counter surfaces thoroughly with warm, soapy water after handling. Always ensure a fresh bowl of clean drinking water is readily available.
